5 things from the Bulls back to back games (Knicks & Celtics)

Frustrating 2 days for Derrick Rose & the Bulls

Bench Production:  In the last two games the bulls have scored a grand total 37 points in the second quarter and whats worst is that they have given up 66 points! Whats crazy  is that the Bulls have outscored Both the Knicks & the Celtics in the second half of both games. We need someone to step up off this bench and take command of this second unit. I was thinking that maybe that guy could be C.J. Watson but so far its been Korver. We all know its not gonna be like this when boozer gets back but we need someone now. Plus can we just stop playing Scal all together? I know he only played 7 Min's against the Knicks but while he was on the floor for those 7 minutes the bulls were outscored by 12 points! even more amazing he only played 3 minutes vs the Celtics and they were outscored by 7 can he please stay on the bench were he belongs

Derrick rose: Rose eased up on the shot attempts and become the facilitator (14 ast vs the Knicks, 9 vs the Celtics) & he was still able to make his usual array of highlight shots. Rose still did force some shoots but its basketball everyone forces some bad shots every now and again. He did get lit up by Tony Douglas on Thursday but some of the shots Douglas was taking were ridiculous and they were going in he did a great job on Rondo the next night and he contained & didn't let him get into the paint. Derrick did turn into TOM (Turn over man) Flu in the Boston game  with a bunch of  horrible passes (but the bulls as a whole did that) Am i the only one confused to what was happening at the end of the Boston game was it an isolation play or a pick and roll that Rose might have brushed off. Other than that he played at a superstar level the last two games.

Who should be the starting Shooting guard?: Keith Bogans plays great D but lets be honest he hasn't mad a jump shot to save his life right now in the last 2 games he has a total of 8 points! Kyle Korver has made shots but his defense is suspect and plus for him is that he stretches the floor for derrick. Ronnie Brewer? The jury is still out on Ronnie but during the back to back he looked energetic. James Johnson? We really don't know which Johnson is going to show up is he the guy from the Piston game is he they guy that makes mind boggling decisions time after time?

Defense & turnovers: Where is the bulls defense the gave up 120 points to the Knicks while allowing them to hit 16 three pointers! no team is going to win doing that. they also didn't get after it defensively in the first half which allows them to make try to make all these furious comebacks. the defense needs to put together two half's on D and  make sure they close out on shooters the 3 ball doomed the bulls these past two games. They also didn't take care of the ball. too many sloppy passes, too many charges and that equals too many missed oppurtunites but its almost a new team so hopefully after a couple more games things will get better.

Gibson and Noah: Taj had great games he knocked down the open shoot time after time he mad great passed and he played great defense. The knicks and the Celtics both relaxed off of him on pick and rolls and that allowed Taj to make them pay. so far this season he has definitely raise his game. Noah was he typically double double self he did it all ran the break blocked shots, and made jump shots. He even got the ball in the post and made a couple of nice moves. One thing that i liked about Noah was the face that he drove the ball to the basket and he was able to do that mostly because he making his jumper. His only mistake was when he lost the ball during a crucial moment in over time vs Boston.

5 things from the Bulls vs Pistons

Derrick Rose & Noah are both All Stars: there's no denying that they are the two best players on this team but now they are playing like 2 of the best players in the league! Rose (33.5 ppg) & Noah (18 rpg) lead the league in their prospective categories. They were without a doubt  the catalyst for the bulls last night without them leading the charge for the bulls last night that game would've turned into a laugher. Derrick Rose was everywhere  for the bulls last night he willed that team to a win on his way to 39 points (once again i thought he was going to have 50) he probably could have had 40 or even 50 last night he missed a couple of lay ups last night but its okay because whenever he did miss Noah was there to tip it back in. Noah set the tone for that comeback last night with a rebound from a missed free throw. He went up for a furious jam and let out a banshee scream. A few minutes later Rose took the ball coast to coast in 3 seconds and finished at the rim for a and one (Fast Don't lie) and that started the comeback.

Was Deng Waldo for Halloween:  I guess he could be the invisible man, or a ghost or something like that too but i go with waldo because his game just cant be found right now so I'm going with Waldo I'm not even sure if Deng played in the 4th quarter yesterday more importantly I don't care because he really didn't matter offensively last night. Deng went 2-10 last night and for the most part he took good shots they just didn't fall for him hopefully he can get out of this slump. He did however do a great job on Ben Gordon defensively in the second half so he did have an impact on defense but his has got to find his rhythm on the other side of the court.

What was with that effort in the 1st half: I have no idea what happened during the second quarter last night the bulls just got blitzed and it took them two quarters to erase the 20 point deficit. One thing i can say about Thibbs is that he made some great adjustments at halftime Detroit's FG percentage in the first half was 52% in the second half 26 % including holding the pistons to 9 points in the 4th quarter! This is why the bulls hired him. That win probably would have never happened last year

We need Bench production: I don't how long this team can last with Scal playing 20 minutes a game. Sure we can use his shooting off the bench, but he cant stop anyone in defense! I don't know if its him or not but it seems like whoever he guards automatically scores! its one of the funniest things i have ever seen because scal plays good D and forces people to shoot tough shoots they just drain it. We need to see Korver Step up and also Watson if one of them have can give the bulls 10 points of the bench a night it would help ease the burden of scoring off of derrick's shoulder which leads me to.....

James Johnson?????:  Dare I say James Johnson was an impact player last night he was everywhere in the 4th he had 9 rebs, 4 ast, 2 steals, 3 Blocks and 8 points last night he provided energy and hustle last night and reminded me of what Tyrus Thomas did for the bulls when he was here. lets hope that he can carry this type of energy for 82 games but at any rate it was great to see him have a great game and help the bulls get the win.

5 things from the Bulls vs Thunder games

News Flash Derrick Rose is amazing!: Rose was Amazing in the first half especially in the first quarter he was every where his jumper was on and he got to the lane almost at will on his way to 20 first half points. (I thought for a little while that he was on his way to 50) But 31 shots I  REPEAT 31 is way too many shots for your point guard someone else has to pick up some of the slack or its going to be a frustrating first month. The thing that surprised me is that some of derrick's shots were forced and he was noticeably fatigued at the end of the game which allowed his shots to be blocked. he missed all of his 3point attempts and he also stayed in foul trouble but it was mainly do to how aggressive he was on D. But he still had a great game

Lets Post Joakim Noah up: Noah was his usual double double self  12 & 19 (Which he will lead the league in) he hit one jumper he a couple of nice looking assists. One thing i would like to see is Noah posting up down low. His footwork has gotten better and he's proven to be very effective going over either shoulder. Somebody is going to have to post up on this team until Boozer gets back and i believe Noah can handle that.

The Old Bulls showed up again: By old i mean the jump shooting Bulls. One thing that shocked me was that we didn't even see any of that excellent ball movement that we saw during the preseason. the bulls can not afford that at all. they didn't go to the foul line a lot and when they did go they missed. Deng went 2-6 from the foul line that's completely unacceptable. The Bulls as a team went 13-22 for 59%.Why did the Thunder get so many fouls every time i looked up they were shooting free throws. Also where was Korver at? Was I the only person who thought the bulls rotation was weird I know it's the first game but don't we need to see korver and rose playing together. We didn't see any decent scoring of the bench i thought korver was supposed to provide that and what was with scal playing so many minutes?

Where was Deng???: Again Deng was trapped in basketball purgatory! he was on the floor but he didn't move with any purpose i even saw James Harden push him of the block once  and i seen him try to post up Jeff Green  Lou has to step it up! Whenever rose it out of the game Deng needs to step it up  and call for the ball, he did have 13 points but if he played aggressive he could have had at least 25 points. He should have put Thabo in the rim on the fast break too but he went up soft and got it rejected

The Bulls D: Bulls played great Defense until 4:00 minutes left in the game then i have no idea what happen. the thunder got 3 dunks in a row and started fast breaking like the Atlanta hawks. Thibbs cant be happy with that effort!

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly from the Bears game

Julius Peppers Takes out Matthew Stafford

THE GOOD:
Jay Cutler Passing for 372 Yards  2 TD, & 108.3 passes rating. Cutler looked relaxed in the pocket  and time after time he got the ball out of his hands quickly (When He had time) and most often than not he put the ball on the money including his clutch pass to Matt Forte late in the fourth quarter. He had an even better throw than that to Devin Aromashodu in the opening drive of the game that could have resulted in a Touchdown if not for Aromashodu dropping the ball.

Matt Forte had 7 Receptions for 151 yards and Looked great on his 89 yard touchdown reception and he looked like he did in his rookie year when he put the burners on and  left the every Detroit Lion in his dust. He had 201total yards for the game.

The Defense: Most Bear Fans know this team will go as far as the Defense takes them and they looked good yesterday (up into the last minute of the game) The lions really didn't get anything started and the D looked energized and  only gave up 168 total yards for the game & 148 of those yards came through the Air! Granted it was the Lions but you still have to go out there and play and they did that.  Lance Briggs had maybe the play of the game coming through the offensive line untouched for a sack, force fumble, and fumble recovery! Even Brian Urlacher Showed up.

Bears offensive line

THE BAD:
The O Line I have a feeling this will be an issue all year but the Offensive line was horrible time after time. The lions front four were able to get into the backfield time after time and Cutler was Sacked 4 times & hit 7 times. Worst than that they never opened any lanes when the bears tried to run which leads us to...

The Running Game: For as good as a game that Matt Forte had receiving the ball he looked horrible rushing the ball (17 car for 50 yards) he had one run for 17 but that was it. Chester Taylor wasn't any better (9 Car for 29 yards) and Jay Cutler might have watch too much of Denard Robinson on Saturday because almost every time I looked up he was running. The bears had a total 101 yards rushing

4TH & Goal: I been trying to figure out if Lovie Smith got punked out by Mike Martz because we never ever  see the bears go for it on 4th down so I'm not a 100% sure that call came from Lovie. At any rate why would the bears who were down by 1 at the time not take the points and take the lead. It was without a doubt the dumbest  play call of the game.

Wide Receivers: The wideouts didn't play horrible but they didn't play good either and they had a number of drops in the game Mainly from Aromashodu dropping 4 himself which included a 2 pt conversion that could have extended the bears lead to 7 points. Not to mention that the leading receiver in the game was Matt Forte

THE UGLY:
Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 1.
Look I'm a bears fan but i would be lying if i said that rule makes sense & i been trying to figure out why that rule even exist. If a player is running the ball all the ball has to do is break the plane of the goal line to be a touchdown. So why in the world did Johnson who had 2 feet & half a butt cheek down not get a touchdown!

Turnovers & Penalties: Both teams had a lot of turnovers but the bears had 4 (3 fumbles 1 Interception) 2 of the turnovers came in Lions territory which takes points off of the board. Jay Cutler also had one of his Jay Grossman moments and tried to fit the ball into triple coverage, and he got sacked and fumbled the ball. The Bears also had 9 penalties for 100 yards i know its the first game but that's horrendous!

Post game Jay: Anybody see Jay Cutler Post Game interview with his shirt half open like he was a Calvin Klien Model??

Kyle Van De Bosch doing his post game News Conference with what looked like a broken nose that was also bleeding! I kept waiting for him to pass out on the podium from lost of blood while photographers snapped their cameras but it never happened.

Devin Hester: Who knows what Hester is thinking about on punt returns anymore. Whenever he tries to return a punt he spends so much time going side to side it looks like he's footworking to some juke music & he always ends up only gaining a yard or two and that's pathetic and I'm sick and tired of seeing it every week! What happen to the Vision, the Speed, Elusiveness? Well it's been replaced by DA HESS will the real Devin Hester PLEASE RUN STRAIGHT!

2010 NFC North Rankings and Projected Records

4. Detroit Lions
2009 record 2-14
2010 Projetced Record 4-12
Lions are in year 2 of their rebuliding phase and they have a tough road ahead. They have great position players but Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stanfford, Javihd Best, and Brandon Pettigrew all come together on offense a make the lions a contender this year? Short Answer: NO and the Defense is an eye sore the biggest upside is they did draft Ndamukong Suh.
Offense- C-
Defense- D
Projected Wins: St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Bucs, and The Philadelphia Eagles

3. Chicago Bears
2009 record 7-9
2010 Projected record 9-7
I feel that the Bears, Vikings, and Packers are just going to beat each other up all season long. the bears should be a little better on both signs of the ball they picked up Julius Peppers to help the D Line and Chester Taylor to help Matt Forte to remember how to run again add in Mike Martz and re energized Urlacher and the bears are posied to make another run whether or not that equals playoffs remains to be seen. So far in the preseason the defense has looked completly horrible with Julius Peppers being the only bright spot. The jury is still out on the offense although they have looked great at times the biggest weakness still looks to be the O line. They are still a year away from making some real noise in the NFC
Offense- B-
Defense- C-
Projected Loses: Packers,Vikings, Cowboys, Giants, Dolphins, Jets and New England.

2. Minnesota Vikings
2009 record 12-4
2010 Projected Record 10-6
The Vikings record is based upon if Brett Farve does manage to come back and play (without getting hurt) if he does they bring they high powered offense back with Adrian Peterson is back and Sidney Rice (who is going to miss the first half of the year) they offense shoudnt miss a beat. Their defense features Jared Allen & they williams boys is probably the best defensive line in the NFC.  Injuries have been a problem for them so far and the biggest question can Brett Farve Rekindle the magic he had last season and can he survive this seasson without getting injuried.
Projected loses: New Orleans, Packers, Bears, New England, Jets & Dallas

Offense- B
Defense- A
Projected loses: Saints, Packers, Bears
1. Greenbay Packers
2009 record 11-5
2010 Projected record 13-3

The division High powered offense is back with Aaron Rogers back with another year as a starter under his belt and their running game. The packers just might have the best quarterback in the NFC north they were swept by the vikings last year & everyone should expect the packers to sweep the vikes this year. So far in the preseason the packs look like they are in midseason form.
Offense-A+
Defense- B
Projected loses: Bears, Patriots, and The Atlanta Falcons
